She completed her Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas in San Antonio and did Residency at the Univers
Amplifying on her overachieving tendencies Dr. Kingston received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and a Bachelor of Science in Aquatic Biology from the University of Texas in Austin. She completed her Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas in San Antonio and did Residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She’s been practicing in Santa Fe for 27 years, shifting her focus from young families and obstetrics to adult medicine, as well palliative and hospice care. She raised her two children in Santa Fe and is proud to call New Mexico home. Despite the obstacle course that medicine has become, Dr. Kingston strives to maintain that caring for patients is still an enormous privilege, at Alma Family Medicine.

Hello, I am Joel Kent. I grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico and graduated from La Cueva High School. I then went to UT Austin for my undergrad and lived in Austin for a couple years while working towards Physician Assistant school. I then went to PA school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. I graduated and began to practice medicine in February 2020 at an allergy and asthma clinic in Albuquerque. This was quite the introduction to medicine, as I began practicing just as the pandemic began. After a year I found myself working at Alma family medicine and enjoying a new part of New Mexico. I am very happy my journey has brought me back to New Mexico, as I love the food and culture here. In my free time I enjoy hiking with my amazing partner Callie and our two wonderful yet crazy dogs, trying all of the different food Santa Fe has to offer, enjoying live music, and laughing in the company of others.

My family is native to Dixon, New Mexico, and that deep connection to community has shaped my values and approach to healthcare. Growing up in a military family gave me the opportunity to explore the world and gain an appreciation for many cultures, perspectives and ways of life. I have had the pleasure of living in Miami, Italy, Arizona, Texas, and most recently Puerto Rico, experiences that strengthened my adaptability and cultural awareness.
I strive to practice evidence-based medicine while treating each patient as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. My diverse background allows me to connect easily with patients from all walks of life and provide culturally sensitive care. I am committed to lifelong learning and staying current with medical advances to deliver high- quality care. Above all, my goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where patients feel respected, understood, and confident in their healthcare journey.
